The town allows both attached and detached attached ADUs to be built by special permit.
ADU rules in Warwick:
The additional unit can be located in existing space, in an addition, or in an existing accessory structure such as a barn or garage.
New accessory structures can be built to accommodate the apartment (e.g a backyard tiny home).
The ADU must be 800 SF or less.
One of the two units must be owner-occupied.
Adequate parking must be provided. New parking must be located on the side or rear of the primary home.
